The Jan Thiel Country House estate, one and a half acres big, is situated at the bay of Jan Thiel. It offers a breathtaking view of the saline water and salt ponds that are home to countless flamingos. Easy to visit through your own admission gate, this wondrous surrounding is perfect for hiking and biking.
You will find a variety of historical buildings on the terrain. Four of them, the country house itself excluded, are entirely at your disposal. So are the luscious gardens, the spacious pool with mesmerizing view of the salt basins, the tennis court, jeu de boules and pitch&putt. Each of the four houses offers extensive privacy. Building 1: The Koetshuis (coach house)
Originally a ‘magasina’ or salt storage house, the Koetshuis is entirely restored to its authentic exterior.
This spacious house offers sleeping and living facilities for up to 8 guests. It consists of two separate areas. The main area holds the grand kitchen, suitable for comfortable dinners and general living. Right behind it you’ll find the magnificent master bedroom, all hardwood, complete with library and private balcony overlooking the salt ponds. Next to the main house, connected by a wide and wonderful living gallery, are three more rooms: two rooms for two guests and a suite for up to four. Within the gallery you’ll find a comfortable seating and large dinner table.
Adding fun to comfort, the swimming pool is situated right in the Koetshuis’ backyard.
Building 2: Kunuku Huisje (House)
Kunuku means countryside. This is a fully renovated typical Curacao country house with a thatched roof. With a spacious kitchen/living/dining room and bedroom, this charming house can offers accommodation to up to 4 guests (there is a sleeping couch in the living room). Open the doors to the large private terrace and enjoy the wonderful breeze and spectacular view.
Building 3: Rita's House
Another wonderfully renovated country house, this one with a tiled roof and private, romantic porch from where to admire the gardens and sunset. Tropical bliss for up to 4 guests.
Building 4: Tennis House
Formerly a tool shed, now a fully renovated, wonderfully private house for up to 4 guests. It’s next to the tennis court, a little distance removed from the other houses. Two bedrooms and a comfortable kitchen/living area. Relax on your own, breezy porch and admire the vibrant gardens.
Upon arrival you’re welcomed by our chef cook and hostess, both of whom reside at the estate. They will see to your every need and make sure that every minute spent at the Jan Thiel Country House estate is a minute cherished and fondly remembered.
